Abstract
This experiment was carried out to investigate the influence of foliar spray of calcium compounds (CaO:17.69%) a newly developed lime during the growing season, on blossom-end rot (BER) fruit, plant growth and mineral content in red pepper (Capsicum annum L.).
The calcium compounds foliar spray resulted in the highest calcium in leaf, but CaCO©ý had no effect. Calcium content in leaf, fruit and fruit stalk was significantly increased by calcium compounds foliar spray and K contents in leaf was not affected by both treatments, but there was not much difference in branch and root. The mineral contents in BER fruit showed a tendency toward that calcium content is much lower and N, P, K, and Mg contents is no difference than normal fruit. Calcium compounds foliar spray reduced significantly the incidence of BER fruit. Calcium content in fruit had a close relation with BER incidence.
